Sea Dogs Attempt Sweet New World Record

The Sea Dogs, along with Wicked Whoopies, the Maine Whoopie Pie Festival and Trademark Federal Credit Union, attempted to create a Guinness World Record for the longest line of whoopie pies.

On June 9th, the team lined up 2,129 individually wrapped whoopie pies, side-by-side in front of Hadlock Field, which stretched a total of 665 feet. Wow!! The club still awaits official word on whether they’ve set the record, but since it’s never been done before, we think their odds are pretty good.

To start the game this year, some of Trademark’s youngest Members threw out the first pitches. Congratulations to Landon, Nolan and Reese!

Team Trademark was there as the official sponsor and invited the Trademark South Portland Little League Team to join them. At the top of the first inning, a player on the opposing team hit a pop-fly right into the stands where we were all seated. The little leaguers sprang into action and came up victorious. They went home that evening with a minor league baseball and a new story to tell. Then a week later, they went on to win the South Portland Little League (Majors) Championship. What a summer to remember!

Though the Whoopie Pies lost that evening, 12-8 in 10 innings, we all went home feeling like winners.

Until next time, Hadlock!
