In October, the South Portland Fire Department hosted its annual Open House, and we were happy to be invited back for the third consecutive year. Despite some strong winds and downed trees causing power outages in the area, it turned out to be a fun day for everyone involved.

Open houses are an important way for fire departments to connect with the community. They provide an opportunity for residents to learn about fire safety, see the equipment in action, and meet the firefighters who serve them. This year, families came out to enjoy a variety of activities, and the kids especially loved decorating their own pumpkins.

Michelle and Serena had a wonderful time connecting with community members and engaging with the firefighters, who were on hand to give tours of the fire station and share important fire safety tips. The event fostered a sense of community and provided a relaxed environment for everyone to enjoy.

Even with the challenges posed by the weather, the Open House was a success, showcasing the dedication of the South Portland Fire Department and the spirit of our community. We appreciate the opportunity to participate and look forward to joining in again next year!
