As we welcome the fresh start of spring, it’s also a great time to refresh your financial security habits. Unfortunately, scammers don’t take a seasonal break – recently, we’ve seen a rise in fraudulent text messages impersonating credit unions.

These messages often claim to be from a credit union’s fraud monitoring department, alerting Members to suspicious activity. They may urge you to click a link or call a number, where scammers attempt to collect sensitive information. Once they have access, they can log into your mobile banking account or even impersonate you when contacting the credit union.

How to Keep Your Finances Blooming – Not Wilting – This Season:

  • Don’t Click Links or Call Unknown Numbers: If you receive an unexpected text about your account, avoid clicking links or calling numbers provided in the message. Instead, contact your credit union directly using a trusted phone number from their official website.
  • Never Share Personal Information: A legitimate credit union will never ask for your account details, PIN, or online banking credentials via text or phone.
  • Verify Suspicious Messages: If you receive a text alert about fraudulent activity, independently verify it by calling your credit union.
  • Monitor Your Accounts: Regularly check your account activity and report any unauthorized transactions immediately.
  • Enable Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA): Adding an extra layer of security to your mobile banking account can help prevent unauthorized access.

If you receive a suspicious text message claiming to be from Trademark Federal Credit Union, do not respond. Instead, report it to us immediately so we can help protect you and other Members.
