In this latest update on Layla’s journey, Wendy is thrilled to share that Layla is doing exceptionally well and tolerating her heartworm treatment without any complications.

Fostering Layla has been a rewarding experience, and Wendy discovered that it’s surprisingly easy to become a foster for the Kennebec Valley Humane Society (KVHS). The process started with a short application and a reference from Wendy’s daughter, Alex, who has been fostering dogs and cats for over a year. Alex encouraged Wendy to try fostering when KVHS needed a home without other pets for a dog this past winter. That’s how Wendy welcomed her first foster, Winter, into her home.

For those interested in fostering or volunteering, KVHS provides all the resources needed, including an application, a foster manual, and an informational video. More information can be found here: Foster – KVHS (pethavenlane.org).

Layla has been an absolute joy, winning the hearts of everyone in Wendy’s family. Her laid-back nature has earned her the affectionate nickname “Princess Layla.” She isn’t a fan of storms or wet paws, but she loves hanging out and indulging in ear scratches and belly rubs.

Wendy and her family are all keeping their fingers crossed that one of them will adopt Layla once she is healthy again, allowing Wendy to continue seeing her as she thrives in her forever home.

Thank you for following Layla’s story and supporting Wendy and her family on this journey. Stay tuned for more updates and keep hoping for the best in Layla’s recovery!
